A good Welsh boy

Strange how ethnicity works in America. I have grandparents that are Italian and Polish-like, meaning probably Polish with Hungarian ancestors as well, but I could also talk about the Welsh heritage on my mother's side, or for that matter the Dutch ancestors. The earliest relatives in America were people from an area adjoining the Netherlands who emigrated to the former colony of New Netherlands in upstate New York around 1700. I can document relatives who fought in the American Revolution and in the Civil War, in fact probably in every major war from the beginning of the U.S.A. Yet because I have a funny name and look somewhat exotic, although still white, it's sort of believed by some people that I'm less of an American than people named Jones who have blond hair and blue eyes. This is something gained from a lot of experience interacting with folks, not something I just pulled out of no where one day.
