Seattle P.I. vs. New York Times

For all the putative sophistication and intelligence of the Seattle area compared with the rest of the country it's interesting to compare the P.I., the more popular and liberal of the two papers in the city, with the New York Times.

The New York Times is currently featuring a story comparing the economic policies of Clinton and Obama, a story about faulty wiring in bases in Iraq killing people, and a story about Turkish education.

Both the P.I. and the New York Times have a story about Microsoft and Yahoo.

The P.I. is also featuring local coverage of the man who was denied a transplant because he was a medical marijuana patient, an account of a local murder, and something that's revealing and funny:

a picture of a parrot who jumped up and put a mini-basketball into a hoop.

Yes, there are daily cute animal pictures in the P.I. It's an actual recurring feature.
